What we’ve been doing…

December 9 Spaghetti Dinner

On Friday December 9 from 6 to 8, Knox’s Bakers and the Parkwood youth had a great time making a spaghetti dinner that included making the sauce from scratch, making garlic bread ?, casear salad, and homemade croutons!

We so enjoyed the fruit of our labor plus great conversations and fellowship with the Parkwood youth. Thank you Victoria for the great Christmas matching game. A very big thank you to Victoria (Parkwood Christian Education support worker), Bruce (CYFM convener from Knox), Emily (Family ministry coordinator from Knox) and all the other leaders for coordinating and helping the youth cook and making it a safe environment to have so much fun in!  Can’t wait until our next joint event together!

November 19 Pizza Party

We had so much fun learning how to make homemade pizza from scratch including the dough and sauce?. We got to choose our favourite topping to put on our part of the pizza!  A big thank you to Carolyn and Curtis for teaching us how to do pizza from scratch, they are amazing teachers! Then we had veggies and dip with Coke or Pepsi to top it off – a well rounded meal?! This month we celebrate two birthday and enjoyed homemade chocolate cake?!

We also had a devotional on the importance of setting time in our daily life to spend time with God .

We got our recipe cookbooks that we brought home and can practice what we have learnt so far at home for our families. Don’t forget get to bring the recipe cookbook back at each youth group event so we can keep adding to our collection of recipes?!

Friday, October 21st

We enjoyed our time visiting and fellowshipping with the Parkwood Presbyterian Church Youth group. Mrs. Emily taught everyone how to make Red Velvet Cupcakes ? with icing by scratch which everyone really enjoyed making ( even with a bit of a mess with the food coloring ?), decorating, and eating. Mrs. Victoria did a great job leading the fun icebreaker game of two truths and a lie, Twister ( had so much fun with that game), and a devotional on Psalm 139 of how we are fearfully and wonderfully created in the image of God ( such a good reminder). A big thank you to Parkwood for being great host and reminding us of the importance of Christian fellowship. Hope we can meet up again soon!

September 2022

The youth got to learn how to take a normal oatmeal chocolate chip recipe and make it healthier with a few easy changes but don’t forget the best part, smarties!

We had a devotional led by Mrs. Emily on how God is unchanging in a world that is always changing, focusing on Hebrews 13:8 and Isaiah 40:8.

Unfortunately a few of the youth were not able to join us this month as they weren’t feeling well, so we had fun creating and making cards for them that were delivered later that day with some delicious cookies. We had a great time chatting and getting to know each other as we made the cards.

After enjoying the cookies and juice, we played three minute to win it games that kept us laughing and having lots of fun trying to accomplish the challenge until the end of the event.

August 2022

Back in August, we had a great time learning how to make waffles from scratch, as well as cook bacon and scrambled eggs. We enjoyed our waffles with fresh fruit and maple syrup!

We had a great time learning to work in the kitchen together, even with the adventures of making a bit of a mess and having fun cleaning it up ?.
